You will experience a holiday to remember at Puffin House at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. Our three holiday cottages are former Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages where the Keepers’ and their families used to live and work before the Lighthouse was demanned in 1988. This semi-detached holiday cottage sits alongside the 19th century Stevenson Lighthouse, built in 1827 by Robert Stevenson, on the headland at Scotland’s most Southerly Point with stunning cliff top sea views.
Puffin House is located next door to Kittiwake House Holiday Cottage. Our self-catering holiday accommodation in South West Scotland is spacious, fully equipped and beautifully decorated. You will find a welcome basket on arrival together with all bed linen and towels provided for each guest.

Puffin House at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse is centrally heated, cosy, bright and warm. A multi fuel burner in the living room is perfect for restful evenings after a day out walking in the Rhins of Galloway.
We provide everything you need for your relaxing holiday in South West Scotland – 32 inch flatscreen TV and DVD player, books and magazines,telephone with honesty box and tourist information to plan your days activities. Free WIFI is provided and a fair use policy is in place.
Puffin House has 3 cosy bedrooms – 1 double and 2 twin bedded rooms. There is a fully equipped holiday home kitchen including a washer, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. There is even a captivating sea view whilst you are doing the washing up! The sitting room has a multi fuel burner, comfortable furnishings and a family sized dining table. A spacious bathroom has a bath and separate shower cubicle and all towels are provided.
For young guests we can provide a high chair, children’s cot, books, toys and games.

Outdoors at Puffin House Holiday Cottage
From Puffin House there are amazing views across the Irish Sea towards the Isle of Man, the Cumbrian hills, Galloway and the Mountains of Mourne in Ireland. The rear of Puffin House and Kittiwake House overlook the walled garden where the Lighthouse Keepers’ grew vegetables for their families who were living and working there. Puffin House was home to the Assistant Lighthouse Keepers’ (ALK) and their families. The Lighthouse was demanned in 1988 when the Lighthouse was automated and it is now monitored by Northern Lighthouse Board in Edinburgh.
Puffin House and Kittiwake House Holiday Cottages are next door to each other and are located in the courtyard opposite the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse Tower. To the front of the Lighthouse Tower is a grassed area, within the Lighthouse walls, where there are picnic tables and benches for you to enjoy alfresco dining and the stillness of this peaceful location at Scotland’s most southerly point.
This holiday accommodation is ideal for bird watchers as we are surrounded by the 30 acres of heathland managed by RSPB and the RSPB Visitor Centre with live web cams of the nesting seabirds is a short stroll away from your doorstep. The area at the Mull of Galloway is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). You can even visit the top of the Lighthouse Tower during your stay.
