We have been busy getting the three lighthouse cottages ready for the 2014 holiday season, painting, decorating and general DIY. We have new log burners in Puffin House and Kittiwake House for cosy nights in after long coastal walks during the day. We have new cushions, new bedlinen, new pictures on the walls and lots more new homely additions.
A brand new welcome basket was added a couple of months ago and this is stocked with tasty treats for you to enjoy on your arrival at your holiday cottage, you can walk straight in the door, drop your bags, make a nice cup of tea then relax and take in the sea view before you head outdoors to explore.
Of course another added bonus of a holiday at the lighthouse cottages at the Mull of Galloway is that guests in the cottages can visit the exhibition and climb the lighthouse tower free of charge, you can do this more than once during your holiday too! This is subject to opening times and weather conditions of course but for 2014 we now have additional opening times for the lighthouse tower. We can also arrange private visits to the top of the tower subject to permission from the Northern Lighthouse Board. We have even had a wedding at the top of the tower!
The lighthouse tower and exhibition both open for the 2014 season on Saturday 12th April, the tower is open daily over the Easter holidays (Saturday 12th April through until Monday 21st April). The lighthouse tower then continues to open weekends, bank holidays and additional Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during July and August through until the middle of October. The exhibition opens daily from 12th April until the middle of October from 10am until 4pm. There could be days when the weather isn’t kind to us and on days like these we can’t open the lighthouse tower as it is an operational lighthouse and when the light is illuminated we can’t access the top of the tower.
You can book your summer holiday in Lightkeeper’s Cottage, Puffin House or Kittiwake House and have access to your very own lighthouse with the most amazing views during your stay at the Mull of Galloway, contact us today to book your holiday cottage at Scotland’s most southerly point. We look forward to hearing from you.
PS: We have a celebration weekend on 8th, 9th and 10th August to celebrate a year of the community buy-out and thank the community for their support. There will be family activities, guided walks, owls, craft stalls, live music and lots of things going on, we still have holiday accommodation available from Saturday 9th August so come along and join our celebration!
