Our recent guests comments from the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse Holiday Cottages

Here are a selection of the recent guests comments written in our guest books in Lightkeeper’s Cottage, Puffin House and Kittiwake House at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.

“Fabulous 3 days with 100 year old mother. Wild winds and wilder seas. Very well equipped cottage with all mod cons and warm. We will return thank you.”

“We have had a simply wonderful stay here, the cottage is spacious, warm and welcoming. The morning views have made for exciting walks and cobwebs blown. The sunsets have been equally spectacular and the day in between filled with happy walks and super sights. We certainly leave relaxed and happy though a little sad to be moving on from our holiday home. Many thanks to the Trust and all the helpers. Great stay.”

“As we are here on our final night in this lovely cottage it is simply blowing a ‘hooly’ outside. It’s hard to believe we haven’t had to wear our rain jackets all week only our fleeces and on occasions even they were dumped. We’ve enjoyed the scenery, looking over to England, across to the Isle of Man, up to Ireland, much of Scotland and the beautiful moon at night. This was a last minute booking and what a find – remote, peaceful, quiet, relaxing and a whole lot of other adjectives could be used to say we had a wonderful holiday – what more could anyone ask for. Thanks to Mull of Galloway Trust for providing such a haven.”

“Wonderful cottage (Lightkeeper’s) enjoyed closing the shutters every evening and listening to the sea. Have visited just about everywhere in the area. The fish pond was worth a visit. A peaceful week’s holiday before our return to Yorkshire a steady journey home through the Galloway Forest.”

“What a wonderful week we have had. Nothing beats starting the day eating breakfast outside on the bench with only the sea birds for company and spectacular views over to Isle of Man. Climbing the lighthouse was a treat and we really enjoyed the exhibition next door. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed visiting the beautiful gardens in the area – Logan Botanic Garden, Logan House Gardens, Ardwell Gardens and would recommend them all. Logan Fish Pond is also well worth a visit with the added bonus of a beach walk afterwards. Above all we’ve loved staying in this lovely cottage. It’s everything we hoped for and more. Thank you.”

“Our second experience of this magical place. The weather has been unbelievable, every day hours of sunshine and no wind. Came to wind down and that we certainly did. Reading, walking, photography and binoculars. Good eating at The Crown at Portpatrick comes highly recommended. RSPB centre incredibly interesting and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. A visit to Gallie Craig Coffee House also recommended good meals, snacks and lovely gift shop only a 5 minute walk away.”

“We couldn’t have wished for better weather a little windy but wall to wall sunshine for the whole weekend. And having the whole place to ourselves it was a real get away weekend.”

“Enjoyed a great week surrounded by the breath-taking views of Galloway. A welcome rest from the crowded streets of Manchester. Seal spotting, shooting stars, endless blue sea and skies, log fire, wine, wholesome food and great company. Who could ask for more? Thank you Puffin Cottage!”
